5 Great Celebrity Gossip Blogs

Which Celebrity Gossip Blogs to Go for All the Dirt on Brangelina, Tomkat, and Nick & JessicaCan’t wait for US Weekly Wednesday every week? Do you need a celebrity news fix daily? The blogosphere has answered your prayers. Everywhere you look there are new celebrity gossip blogs popping up. One might think all these options at your fingertips is wonderful news, but it’s not.
Imagine you’re in your cubicle at work and have just have a few minutes to troll the web for pictures of baby Suri or an update on the Jessica-Nick battle – where do you turn? Here is your guide to some great celebrity gossip blogs.Pink Is The New BlogPink Is The New Blog is perhaps the best-known celebrity gossip blog. Run by Trent Vanegas, now of Los Angeles (until just recently though, Detroit of all places), Pink has been written up in Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, and Blender Magazine. A typical daily post includes the bigger celebrity news of the day accompanied by photographs. These are not regular photographs, however. Vanegas writes captions over them in pink font. The captions aren’t particularly funny and I often wonder if their purpose is just to keep other bloggers from using them (which is ironic because Vanegas doesn’t hold the copyright to most of them). At the end of the daily Pink Is the New Blog post there are links to plenty of entertainment news. This is where I believe this site really excels. While other bloggers may post just five links a day, Pink Is the New Blog often posts ten to twenty links that touch upon fun tabloid fodder. If I have one main criticism of this celebrity gossip blog it would be the unbelievable amount of spelling and grammatical errors. This is pretty much written at a fourth grade reading level, but I assume most people don’t care about that. All in all, if you don’t mind waiting until the middle of the afternoon for your news (posts post come in mid-day), this is a very comprehensive site that is worth reading.PerezHilton (aka Page 666)

Gossip at the Work Place

Avoiding Gossip Could Leave You More Focused on the JobWork at any place for even a short period of time and you are guaranteed to be exposed to gossip. It is unavoidable. Co-workers talk about each other, juniors talk about their bosses and bosses talk about the CEO. Justification; the information is just too juicy to keep quiet about!Let’s begin with a basic understanding of gossip. Gossip is simply discrediting talk about someone who is not present. There are several reasons that make people engage n this kind of talk of the workplace. What
reasons? An obvious one is to seek revenge on the co-worker we feel wronged by him/her and rather than directly confront or ridicule this person, we elect to malign him/her and to spread rumours about him/her behind his/her back.Second, gossip bonds the people who engage in it. Talking about a common enemy or problem tend to bring colleagues closer. And thirdly, gossip is intended at knocking someone down a few notches so that we may feel superior to the person. We try to enhance our image at the expense of someone else, and to many cases we do not consciously realize that this is why we are gossiping; bolstering our own image by denigrating the lives and actions of others.Negative gossip includes untruths accusations or taking credit for someone else’s idea and it harms people. Whether the harm is intentional or not, it can cause great hurt to both the victim and rumormongers’ reputation. No beating around the bush here, gossip is to be avoided.First draw a clear line between work and personal lives. Do not give detailed answers about income, sexuality, politics and relationships. It may be fun to talk about who is being forced to resign, who is sleeping with who, and who is next in line for promotion-but is this what you were hired for?Second if you become the subject of damaging gossip, confront it. Get to find the source of the gossip and privately seek to set the record straight. Ask the person to refrain from spreading rumors. They may deny it, but they will know they are caught and will stop.

Public Speaking with Pizzazz!

Learn to Speak with Confidence!IN THE BEGINNING…..In the beginning was the spoken word. And the spoken word was and is the means of communicating ideas to our fellow man. The more effectively we speak, the greater the understanding of our audience. Before beginning any endeavor, we need to be in a good mental state of mind. Take time to relax. Pamper yourself a bit with soft music, a quiet dinner, or a round of golf….whatever works for you.
Ready? Then let’s begin. So you’ve been asked to speak, but what topic do you choose? Either you feel there is just so much to choose from, or you’re having trouble coming up with an idea. For most, it’s the latter. Ask yourself: ‘What are the interests of my audience?’ Jot down a few ideas that come to mind. Next, ask yourself: ‘What are my interests?’ Jot down a few of these ideas. Now you have a list to choose from. Once you make that choice, the battle has begun!CAPTURING THE AUDIENCE!Your speech actually begins with your introduction. If possible, try to write your own for each speaking occasion to ‘set the stage’ for your speech. Write it with enthusiasm! You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Make the audience eager to hear what you have to say. You can let the audience know what your topic is and why it is relevant. For example, if your topic is ‘How to Make Millions,’ a typical introduction could be: The Optimist Club is delighted to have a speaker who is a self-made man. He has found a way to create wealth from a very small investment in time and money. Tonight, he will show us how we can accumulate a small fortune as he has done. Please welcome to the stage, Mr. John Q. Public! You may find that writing your introduction is easier once you’ve written your speech. However, writing a tentative introduction in the beginning may be helpful. However you decide to do it, be sure it meets the criteria of grabbing your audience.

News You Can Use: How the News Media Skew Depictions of Class, Race, Poverty in America

Since its advent, television has become the predominant means in which Americans have come to learn about themselves and the issues of the day. But television has done a poor job of presenting some of the most important issues facing America, that of class and race. Gregory Mantsios was
correct when he wrote in his essay, “Class in America: Myths and Realities,” that the “institutions that shape mass culture and define the parameters of public debate have avoided class issues.” (Rereading 319) But he failed to realize that television, particularly the evening news, does deal with class and race but in ways that skew the debate rather than add clarification. The news, both local and network broadcasts, tends to perpetuate stereotypes of the underclass and present an inaccurate depiction of poverty. Their avoidance of class issues is driven by a desire to pursue high ratings and the demographics, primarily middle class or the 18 to 49 year old age group, that are the most appealing to advertisers. But, in doing so, not only does the news media help create inaccurate perceptions of class and poverty in America, it also leads the public to want political or legislative answers to problems that exacerbate rather than resolve them.

Dating Sites for Smart People: A Guide to Niche Dating for Singles

Guide to Niche Singles Dating for Geeks and NerdsThe following is a brief analysis of dating/singles websites that are designed to bring nerds, dorks, geeks, or whatever you want to call “smart, quirky” people together for casual dating or long-term relationships (most of the sites leaning toward the former).Nerd Passions This online dating sphere is for those who consider themselves (or possibly are considered by others) to be geeky, nerdy, dorky, or however you choose to define this gro0up of people that in most social situation are considered to
be outcasts. Basically, judging from the homepage alone, the term geek or nerd in this context is supposed to define the super intelligent, overly studious and maybe just the awkward, eccentric folks. The brunette girl on the homepage is adjusting her stereotypical thick nerdy glasses and the site describes itself as “boldly eschewing the shackles of conventional popularity, a place to embrace your nerdiness. This site definitely seems quality and worth the time it takes to fill out an enticing profile- that is, as long as you can keep up with the rest of the smarties. Your geekiness will be put to the test in the free chat room or forum (or even more so through the site Instant Messenger) when you are asked to discuss your favorite books and favorite websites. And you better work hard on that profile, for people can search by keywords and some of the most popular sear5ches today alone were certainly bizarre and unlikely when it comes to what most people look for in a date. Among the typical “busty” and bisexual” people also searched for “physics”, “Lincoln”, “Lovecraft”, “Geology” Matrix” and “seti”. Who puts “Matrix” in their profile except those hardcore fans of Keanu Reeves? Or for that matter, Lincoln? Nerd Passions is fascinating, well designed and plenty of geeky members. And better yet, everything you do there is free! (Or so they say).Nerdlicious

Married and Bored: Understanding Gossip

Advice from the Opposing Views of Single-n-Lonely, Married-n-BoredIf you are married and truly bored, there is usually only one reason for it: you are in a stable marriage. Huzzah! Rejoice in the unfailing monotony of your life! Essentially you have achieved the goal of marriage, and that is to never be blindsided by anything that wasn’t planned for. A cheating spouse, an unexpected death, the loss of a job, your house catching on fire – none of that has happened, you lucky
guy! Just because you haven’t had sex in four months is no reason to fret. Your marriage is going terrific, and your wife couldn’t be happier with you (so long as you keep moving up the ladder at work). But there is one thing missing from your wife’s life, and that is drama. If your wife loves to gossip, that’s a good thing. Let me explain. As long as your wife gets excited over gossip, there is a good chance she is not having afternoon trysts with the lawn boy and his well oiled blade. Women who are in affairs are detached from gossip because they are actually living. Gossippers take joy in hearing about other people because their own personal lives are actually deceased. Imagine this situation: you obtain a rich piece of gossip about her brother-in-law and his skirt-chasing problem. Your wife says, “Well, his problems are really none of our business.” No doubt that statement would shock you like unregulated high-voltage because your wife loves gossip so much that her nipples naturally point toward People magazine wherever she goes in the supermarket. This is the rule of gossip: gossip is only exciting to bored people. People who create gossip are too busy living in their own affairs to waste time talking about rumors of other people. If your wife stops asking about that cheating brother-in-law, she is definitely cheating on you. Fans of gossip love the misery of others. Here’s a few reasons explaining your wife’s need for endless soap operas:

Do You like to Gossip?

The Psychology of Gossip, and Why it is a Crucial Part of Social InteractionSocializing is a natural human activity and may even be considered a need for survival. It is necessary for social norms and culture to be understood in order to learn and grow within a group or setting; climbing the social ladder isn’t just for housewives and women’s groups!
Men take part in this form of interaction but perhaps in a different context; business networks, closed social circles, and even groups of friends can take part in similar interaction patterns. And it’s in these close circles and networks that the need to gossip is commonplace.Gossip isn’t necessarily a bad thing; it is a way for people to connect, to gain insight about one another, and learn through the grapevine. Positive gossip creates unique, interesting, and evolving relationships. Who doesn’t want to know a friend’s decision to propose one week before their potential mate? Who wouldn’t want to know that their neighbor friends are planning a surprise party for their new son-in-law? However, gossip in the negative contexts can cause harm and emotional upset between friends, groups, and networks. But can it be overcome, or is it a natural human trait? Workplace gossip is likely the most popular; most people spend almost half of their waking life at work, and can form tight bonds with peers and coworkers. Gossiping around the water cooler isn’t just for office types; it is a widespread trend, and can often be the way to learn a company’s culture from the inside out. If and when you koow what happens in the rumor mill, it’s likely that you will be able to identify safe, and unsafe, territory! Just remember that being known as a gossip monger is probably not your best career option; it’s best to stay aware, but choose not to participate. If you take your job and career seriously enough, you wouldn’t want to be associated with this always-present vein in any company!  As tempting as it may be, set your boundaries and stick with them.

The Benefits of Acai Berry

Most of us want to prevent wrinkles, heart disease, and cancer and a little fruit from the Amazon may be just the right treatment. Although not as widely known as other fruit, Acai berries are one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world.

The acai berry is a dark purple, grape-size fruit that comes from a palm tree from the Amazon rainforest. Acai berry contains 50 percent essential fatty acids and has the same healthful fat found in olive oil. Acai has almost as much calcium as milk, and an amino acid profile similar to eggs. The antioxidants found in Acai berry are also found in blueberries and wine.

The unique nutritional composition of acai berries helps to protect the body from free radicals and inflammation, which are the two main causes of degenerative diseases and aging. The antioxidant in acai helps prevent aging of the body and the skin by eliminating free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that are missing an electron. Our bodies continue to produce free radicals as byproducts of normal metabolic processes and in response to such environmental factors, such as pollution and radiation. Left alone these free radicals can take electrons away from healthy cells and damages DNA, increasing the risk of heart disease, cancer and other degenerative diseases.

The best foods to fight this process contain antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E and beta carotene. Foods like blueberries, spinach, strawberries and wine are great but Acai berry is even better. Acai berry also plays an important role combating inflammation. Acai berry fights inflammation and wrinkles similar to that of salmon and extra virgin olive oil. Acai berry can be found in many natural stores in capsules and powder. Acai berry can be taken as a capsule but you can use the powder or the fruit can be used to make smoothies, juice drinks or yogurt, and not only will it be very good for your health, it is also delicious and enjoyable to make. Acai has a taste that is often described as a hint of chocolate and red wine. Since it is a fruit there are no known negative side effects using Acai berry.

Finding Your Soul Mate Online

Christian Dating OnlineFor many Christian singles, finding true love is becoming more and more difficult. This is largely due to the fact that many of them feel that society is becoming a moral morass, and that it is difficult to find other singles that share similar values. The problem is only compounded by the increasing average marriage age. Where singles used to meet people with similar interests in college, they are now entering the workforce and finding the possibilities limited, as the pool of people available to meet dwindles. Even worse – for the especially devout – is the bar scene. No self-respecting devout Christian single actually thinks that he or she will meet a soul mate at a bar. So, increasingly, Christian singles turn to the Internet. Luckily, there are plenty of Web sites out there devoted to helping Christian singles find each other. Many of them are set up so that you can find profiles of people in the same city, or in a nearby city. This makes it easier to find people that you can meet in person. Here is a sampling of the sites available for Christian online dating:Christian Cafe (www.christiancafe.com) offers what it claims is the “largest database of Christian singles online.” You can look for friends, dates, or long-term relationships. The site offers a free 10 day trial, so that you can browse pictures and profiles and decide if this is the site for you. Christian Singles (www.christiansingles.com) features “the fastest growing network of Christians.” Watch out if you are just looking for a nice date – this site is geared for those who are looking for marriage. This not simply a dating site. You are expected to be looking for a long-term marriage relationship.

The Hot Men of TV News: Anchors, Hosts and Reporters on CNN, NBC, and More

Lauer, Cooper, Corning, and Williams Top the List – A Few of Which are Reportedly GayWhile watching a rerun of a South Park episode, I laughed out loud when the girls from the 4th grade class began to giggle and coo about their collective crush on Matt Lauer, handsome host of the Today show. This name drop, coupled with
ongoing chat room discussions of Ron Corning and entire fan pages devoted to Anderson Cooper, reminded me that male TV news personalities remain figures of admiration for more than just their on-camera news abilities. With sexual attractiveness in mind, I started thinking about the “Hot Men of TV News” and even informally polled some friends to get their opinions. Here are just a few of the apparent hot men of TV news. I’ve included a handful of anchors, hosts, and reporters from CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS – men whose names came up over and over.Matt Lauer (NBC)Since 1997, Matt Lauer has been the co-host of NBC’s morning news and talk show, Today. Born in New York City in 1957, Matt has come a long way since working as a news producer in West Virginia after he left Ohio University in 1979. Climbing his way up the ranks, Matt eventually landed his spotlight role with NBC and is now famous for bearing the brunt of Tom Cruise’s ire during a 2005 interview when the touchy subject of psychiatry came up. Of course, Matt presents serious world news alongside human interest pieces, and as one of the hot men of TV news, he remains especially popular among American housewives. In fact, shortly after his debut on the Today show, People magazine named him among the most beautiful people in the world. His down-to-earth, semi-rugged charms mix with his New York sophistication to make his buzzed head and bright grin the object of much fantasy.

Toastmasters and the Art of Public Speaking

In a survey of worst fears, public speaking was second only to death. Many years ago, Dr. Ralph C. Smedley recognized the need to overcome this fear. In October 1924, a group of men led by Dr. Smedley met in the basement of the YMCA in Santa
Tally Ho ToastmastersNeighborhood: 11315 Falls RoadPotomac, MD 20853 Ana, California. Their purpose? To form an association “to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.” They called themselves “Toastmasters.” The innovative group was onto something. Soon, men in other communities asked for assistance in forming Toastmasters chapters of their own. By 1930, a federation was necessary to coordinate activities of the many clubs and provide a standard program. When a speaking club in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, expressed interest in forming a Toastmasters club, the group became known as Toastmasters International.Growing Strong For many years, Toastmasters International met in rented office spaces. In 1962, the Toastmasters International staff moved to its first World Headquarters building in Santa Ana, California, not far from where the first club began. By the late 1980s, however, this building could no longer adequately house the growing staff needed to provide services to the growing number of Toastmasters. In 1990, World Headquarters relocated to a new building in Rancho Santa Margarita. The building is designed to accommodate Toastmasters International’s expected growth well into the 21st century. On A Roll
