If Lyme’s disease goes un-treated for a somewhat long amount of time? How can it become harmful?

I noticed a bite about back in May with dry skin around it but I didnt care really because I thought it was just a severe-misquito bite. Then I started to get fevers and a headache almost every day. I decided to see a doctor and got a test done saying I had Lyme’s Disease.
