Eli ? asked:
I dont understand, what are the negative effects of it? And does it actually work? Is just the ultra-religious who say it’s demonic and stuff, or why is it that some people frown upon it?

Because they are ignorant and stupid
Hypnotherapy is not evil and religion doesn’t even come into it. Thats a perfect example of why religion is so screwed up. Having worked, and studied in the psychology field ive known many success stories.
Bang on Jelleben! People have no idea what they’re talking about, particularly with stuff that cant be expolained by science. So they make it up according to their limited knowledge and look down on eople who know a little more.
The only reason why a religious fanatic would say that alternative medicine is evil, is simply because they do not know or understand how it works. And unfortunately those kinds of people almost always refuse to educate themselves on such matters, staying superstitious and close minded. How could something that deals with the inner working of someones mind be evil? It’s not like the therapists are telling people to worship the devil while they are in trance. To find out more on what it is and how it works, just go to wikipedia.
i believe the root of the belief in hypnotherapy being evil comes from the fear of losing control
i have never heard people say this,
i think we should not be so quick to call people stupid, you are putting control of yourself into another persons hands, while scientific studies have shown hypnotherapy to be beneficial in some cases, there is still a lot to be wary of.
it isnt simply a case of snapping your fingers, clucking like a chicken, and then going back to normal
Ignorance is the easy answer and sadly the usual reason people make stupid comments. Any methods and techniques can be used in ways we regard as good or bad.
Yes, hypnotherapy works great in most cases. Usually up to 70-80% get help with whatever they use the therapy for.

Some people may feel uncomfortable with it because they are not in control. Essentially, hypnotherapy involves handing over your mind to another person. Scary thought to a lot of people.
Of course, in the hands of a responsible and talented practitioner, hypnotherapy can be very positive. But I understand why some people struggle with accepting it.
I have to be honest, I’ve never heard anyone call hypnotherapy evil. I have heard people being critical of it, but they’re the people who don’t believe in it because often, if people can’t see the medicine such as a tablet or know it hasn’t been created in a science lab, they don’t give things a chance.
Hypnotherapy is great because it may help you get to the source of a problem. For example, if someone has anxiety, hypnotherapy can help you understand where the anxious feelings stem from.
Hello Emerald
No negative affects if performed by experienced Hypnotherapist, yes it works.
It is frowned upon as it has been badly elaborated upon etc via media, how many films have you seen where Hypnosis is about one person controlling another (which is impossible via hypnosis). It is a subject that has always been portrayed as manipulative, so people believe it & do not trust it.
A hypnotic state is a natural state, & we all enter one several times a day, so normal.
