Are you going to take UPCAT this week? Is UPCAT re-opened for 2009 applications?

If yes, BS Physical Therapy is a non-quota course. I got your point. When I was in high school, many college students not studying in UP told me that if I am going to take UPCAT, I should choose a non-quota course so that I AM ADMITTED FOR SURE. I didn’t listened to them, since if I will choose a non-quota course and it is not my own preference, I will not like it.

Ibig sabihin, huwag ka pong magpapadala sa mga taong nagsasabi sa yo na choose a non-quota course in UP, dahil sigurado kang makakapasok dun. In reality, there is no such rule. I am presently a BS Civil Engineering (BS CE) student in UP Diliman. You know, almost half of the students taking UPCAT chooses to enter College of Engineering, and 75% of that wishes to be a BS CE. In the beginning, I know that risk, largely because only 135 studes are admitted and each year, pabawas yun ng pabawas.—It is sooooo impossible that I will be admitted in CE. But still, I choose CE because I really like the way civil engineers do.

Ang payo ko sa yo, GUSTO MO BA TALAGA NG BS Physical Therapy (BS PT); o may iba ka pang gusto? If you answer, “no, I don’t like BS PT, but for the sake na makapasok ako ng UP, I’ll choose it then shift na lang next year,” then you’re definitely a fool. Kaya mo bang sayangin ang one year mo para sa course na ayaw mo? Always remember, kung ang UPCAT ay mahirap, I’ll assure you, UP survival is far more difficult than that. Ika nga, many had testes, but many had also failed.

BS Bio… I think it is also a quota course.

Well, ganito kasi systema ng UP. If you’ll pass UPCAT, then congratulations. After that, the University Registrar will look if your UPCAT score fits to the prescribed or required UPCAT score of your chosen course. Kung nag-fit, then, voila. May course ka na. If not, you will be considered to your next choice. Pareho lang ang sistema. Now, kung hindi pa rin nag-fit ang course mo pero pasado ka sa campus mo, then the Registrar will look the best course that fits your grade. For more info, iyan read this :
