Yes. I’d report them to the board of health or the fire department

  2. mlgable says:

Yes you are at risk and you should report this to the police or whatever city agency handles this type complaint. Have you mentioned to him that this is dangerous or is he a neighbor that you can’t talk with? Either way don’t let him burn anymore as that is considered hazardous waste and needs to be properly disposed of.

  3. huggywell says:

Yes, report it to environmental health immediately. That stuff has to be disoposed of properly…not just burnt!!!!

  4. The Mr. Pine says:

Call the fire department and tell them.

You gonna die! Call the cops, or just go tell him to stop.

I would say yes you are at risk, and that they should be taking appropriate asbestos abatement practices. Call your local health department and tell them the situation. It could be illegal. Are you sure the material has asbestos in it?

  7. dbbshawn says:

You betcha! You better call someone really quick & keep that window closed!

  8. jsabor25 says:

yes you are the fumes are very bad. You should call the city inspector, health department and call the cops because he is breakingthe law. Also tell them to send a HAZ MAT team to despose of the asbestos beofre it’s too late.

One of the reasons why buildings were fitted with asbestos was for fireproofing. I find it surprising that your neighbor is able to burn the stuff…
Studies have shown that airborne asbestos can be quite dangerous, including being carcinogenic. Protect yourself first, put on filter mask, or even a cloth over your mouth. Then you need to deal with your neighbor, in which you have several options. Maybe he is unaware of the properties of asbestos and simply needs to be informed.

  10. LV says:

Yes you are at risk, I would ask your neighbor if you could stick his head in the barrel, if he says no then ask him to move his barrel preferably to another state.
