Can popcorn ceilings really give you cancer 20 years later?

Posted in Cancer

Some pieces of my popcorn ceiling fell, while I was dragging a bit, and I am very worried that something like this, I inhaled. I am not 100% sure if it has asbestos or not, this is a very old house in San Diego.Werde cancer to be inhaled, I get a little?

  1. Pro Con says:

If you don’t know, it’s better to assume there is asbestos in your ceiling. I live in Orange County and it’s definitely been used here.

The CDC in Atlanta Georgia would probably be able to give you a definitive answer as to the dangers of a small amount, but I would guess you have nothing to worry about.

If you ever decide to remove your own acoustic ceiling, be sure to wear a protective mask.
