Do you really think makers of deep fryers would put asbestos in an exhaust tube? do you really think people are that stupid, to just ask for a lawsuit?
DO YOU?

It will be just foam or more likely just really old fat exhaust that has congealed into foam. Asbestos was never used in such applications. Although without testing the material, you can not be 100% sure, it is very, very unlikely. Also, your exposure was so small, OSHA would not even consider it as any kind of hazard, even if it was asbestos.

You were right to question it. Nothing wrong with being cautious. It is unlikely to be asbestos though. Also – even if it was – you would have not inhaled enough fibers to cause you any ill health effects.
Kind regards,
Asbestos researcher.
