Healthcare Reform: How it Could Save Money

IntroductionMy view is that there are serious problems with the present system. America is hooked on drugs. But this is only one of many problems. Health care is being rationed now! Only the wealthy can get the best health care. However, there are also ways
where the government can save a lot of money and the patients can save a lot of money too. These ways would improve health care as well as reduce costs.Psychiatry Gone WildOne of the biggest areas that are problematic is psychiatry. Dr. E. Fulley Torrey, an eccentric psychiatrist, has called psychiatrists “frauds” in the book “The Death of Psychiatry”. He calls much of psychiatry “crap”. However, his 1974 prediction of the death of psychiatry has proven to be a premature burial. Amazingly he worked for the National Institute of Mental Health!Right now psychiatry depends heavily on drugs. However, there are severe problems with these drugs (1). On the other hand, Thomas Szasz, another eccentric psychiatrist, has described psychiatry as “mythology”. He feels that schizophrenia is a “myth”. This is too severe a criticism of psychiatry.Orthomolecular MedicineGreat hope is offered by orthomolecular medicine for a wide variety of diseases. Orthomolecular scientists favor “therapeutic nutrition based upon biochemical individuality”. One of their prophets was the late Roger Williams. Williams wrote the book The Wonderful World Within You (1977, 2004). This book provides nutrition information on a variety of foods.StrawberriesLike other fruits, strawberries are very low in sodium but have potassium. For this reason fruits are good to fight high blood pressure. You can take drugs for high blood pressure, but my advice is to try nutrition also. If you can lick the problem with nutrition, it will be cheaper and safer than the drugs. You can also buy supplements for potassium, but the supplements don’t contain much potassium. You are better off eating bananas or oranges than taking supplements. These fruits are also low in fat. They have no cholesterol.

3 Steps to Acne Relief

Millions of people suffer from acne around the world, and just as many people are finding little tricks and tips to fight the causes and effects of acne. It’s a desperate problem and although I would avoid desperate measures, I would recommend
trying a few different approaches if nothing is working for you. In this article, I will show you a few more tips I have picked up that have helped a little towards taming my outbursts of acne. These tips alone will not totally cure you from acne problems, but combined with an effective remedy, you should be able to see results much sooner…Tip 1. Wash your hands more than you wash your faceHave you ever noticed how other people often touch their face? Either to scratch, rub their jaw line or chin, rest their head in their hands or otherwise? You might not realize it, but you probably touch your own face many times per day! This is why it’s important to keep those paws clean so as not to run grease and oil from foods or dirty surfaces onto the pores on your face.Tip 2. Use a mud mask dailyMud masks really help to exfoliate the skin and really do help you get rid of excess facial oil, which is the cause for most skin related problems, such as acne and blemishes. Also, the drying mud on your face actually traps bacteria and dead skin cells, which are then completely removed.Tip 3. Try toothpaste! This sounds bizarre, but applying a small pea sized amount of toothpaste to the affected areas for about 15-20 mins can work wonders. After 20 mins, gently remove with luke warm water but try not to scrub hard. This little technique does actually help at least temporarily but is not advised for people with sensitive skin types.Ultimately, these techniques will work and will provide some form of relief. But as you’ll notice sooner or later, all of these types of techniques only put a patch over an underlying cause. The real secret to getting rid of acne is of course to fight it at the root.

LCD Monitor Review: Philips 220XISW

Whether serving out home lighting kits with LivingColors, furnishing their television screens with the state-of-the-art Ambilight technology, or turning night Into day at Singapore’s Formula 1 night race, one might think that Philips has done it all. Now, the Dutch electronics giant is
bringing their expertise in lighting to the humble LCD monitor. In this case, LightFrame technology appears on the Philips 22OXISW, a 22-inch widescreen display. When it comes to aesthetics, the Philips 220X15W sports a glossy piano white finish, a stark contrast from the safe black color scheme preferred by other manufacturers. The main selling point of the 22OXISW, according to Philips, is the use of their LightFrame technology, which literally allows Philips to change the color of the surrounding bezel to a rich blue hue. What’s more, the intensity of the blue lighting can be adjusted according to light intensity. Though sounding gimmicky, Philips claims that this feature helps to stimulate your visual senses for improved concentration and reduced fatigue. While we don’t quite yet have the luxury of extended use with this monitor, the blue light does appear comfortable, though your mileage may vary.Another feature worth mentioning is Philips’ SmartImage mode. This technology automatically enhances the contrast, color saturation and sharpness of images and videos through different scenarios such as Office Work, Image Viewing, Economy and more. For users who still consume media that are formatted in the ‘traditional’ 4:3 aspect ratio, the 22OXISW features a handy toggle button that switches the display from 16:9 to 4:3 and back for optimal viewing. Philips also specifies the 22OXISW as having a typical contrast ratio of 1000:1, going all the way up to a dynamic rating of 12000:1.Performance-wise, the 22OXISW dishes out high contrast and vibrant colors, with no noticeable discrepancies found in the Neutral Grayscale analysis in DisplayMate. Reading text oil the screen was also easy on the eyes. It must also be said that the anti-glare coating helps greatly when viewing the screen.

HP W2558HC 25.5-inch LCD Monitor Review

If you haven’t bought a top end PC monitor lately, you will likely be amazed by how many ports and features are now available on them; and the HP W2558HC is no exception. This monitor features many of these various ports and in fact goes beyond current industry standards. At 25.5 inches
the view size of the monitor is quite large by PC standards, and the overall picture the HP W2558HC produces is top notch. Appealing Design Both the monitor itself and the stand it is attached to look beautiful and well detailed. With color ranging from deep black to the much lighter bezel and silver outlines, the HP W2558HC is one of the most visually appealing monitors recently released. The tray included on the stand is just as attractive, and quite handy if you are using the HP W2558HC as your office computers monitor. With the ability to tilt the monitor up and down to seemingly unnecessary extremes, every user will be able to find a comfortable viewing angle. All of these design features combined result in a monitor which delivers the perfect combination of usability and visual appeal. Features, Ports, & Settings I touched briefly on the number of ports installed on the HP W2558HC monitor, and these are numerous and useful. The monitor boasts 2HDMI ports, 5 USB connections, and DVI support; making sure that all of the basic display ports are covered here. In addition to the above ports, the HP W2558HC comes with additional applications and support that you will simply not find on a cheaper monitor. With its SD port, Flash port, night light, and a built in microphone and webcam, the HP W2558HC goes above and beyond what is expected from a monitor. Performance and Value With a maximum resolution of 1920×1200, the HP W2558HC is able to display any of the highest quality media available to date. The HD Video output can contain a contrast ratio of up to 1000:1, leading to an impressive looking picture across all 25.5 inches of the 16:10 monitor. This higher 16:10 ratio is a testament to how concerned HP was with giving the HP W2558HC monitor the highest video output quality possible.

Five Easy Steps to More Effective Public Speaking!

A Consise Guide for the Novice Public SpeakerFive Easy Steps to More Effective Public Speaking!Mastering the art of public speaking starts with preparation and rehearsal. Look at your audience, consider what you want to tell them and finally, consider what action and/or opinion is the goal of the speech.1.OrganizeYou need to take into consideration what the objective(s) of the speech will be. You need to consider who the audience is and what they want to hear. Then you need to draft the speech for the time allotted.
2.Outline A draft can be word for word, but it’s critical that this draft be rehearsed and distilled until you can reduce it to an *outline* that you will be comfortable speaking from. Work to achieve an outline of keywords and speak from these keywords not from a written script.Remember, when speaking you can’t read the speech – instead you must make regular eye contact with your audience members. This means you have to have what you are going to say so well in hand and well rehearsed that you don’t find yourself looking at the papers – compelled to read. You’ll be surprised the first few times you rehearse your speech at the number of times you must pause to organize your thoughts. (We can cure that now…)3.Practice!The more you practice the speech the less you will find yourself at a loss for words! Also, the more practice, the fewer keywords you need in your notes and the less you will be bound to the papers. After some rehearsal, your thoughts and words will come smoothly and you’ll be well on your way to a successful speech!4.Set up your “keyword” scriptOnce you feel the keywords (notes) are in place and they work for you, run the speech from the top, watching the time and getting comfortable with the flow.5.Allow time for feedback and questionsThe most effective speakers always find ways to involve the audience. If you allow for their input, you’ll be surprised and the rapport you can build with your audience. Remember to stay in control of the discussion.

Two Terrific Apple Cobbler Recipes

When Fall Gives You Apples, Make Apple Cobbler! The first apple cobbler recipe is an old favorite of mine. I usually think of this recipe about this time of year, when apples are becoming more abundant in farmer’s markets, fruit stands and your favorite grocery store. I have been making this fall treat for many years.
Apple Walnut Cobbler1/2 cup sugar1/2 teaspoon cinnamon1 cup broken walnut pieces (use more or less if desired, or omit)5-6 cups peeled, sliced apples (I use McIntosh or Spies)1 cup all-purpose flour1 cup sugar1 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon salt1 egg, beaten1/2 cup evaporated milk (or cream)1/3 cup melted butterIn a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup sugar, the cinnamon and 3/4 cup broken walnuts. Set aside. Place peeled, sliced apples in a large, well-greased baking dish. I use a 2 – 3 quart round glass baking dish. Sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon/nut mixture over the apples. In a medium bowl, combine all dry ingredients, stirring well. In a large bowl, combine the beaten egg, the evaporated milk and the melted butter. and add the combined dry ingredients, all at once. Beat until smooth, then pour evenly over apples. Sprinkle with remaining broken walnuts.Bake in a slow oven (325 degrees) for about 50 minutes or until done. Apples should be fork-tender and topping should be lightly browned. This is extra-delicious topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping.Quick and Easy Apple Cobbler2 large cans Apple Pie Filling (you will need about 3 cups total)1 tablespoon soft butter1-1/4 cups All Purpose Baking Mix2 tablespoons sugar2 tablespoons melted butter, cooled slightly1/4 cup (or more) milkPlace apple pie filling in saucepan, bring to boiling, boil and stir about 1 minute. Place hot filling in greased, 2-quart baking dish. Dot with soft butter. In medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Stir just until well blended. If necessary, add a bit more milk to make a soft texture. Drop dough by tablespoons over hot apple pie filling. Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Both these apple cobblers are delicious. Choose whichever fits in with your time and experience, and ejoy!

Guidelines for Christian Dating

Navigating the dating landscape is a challenge. People enter relationships sometimes having different agendas and needs. The moral lines are blurry in the world we live in. Christians who have entered the dating arena need to stay true
to their values and beliefs. Establishing some guidelines for Christian dating before you get your heart strings tangled up with someone else’s is a wise idea.Who’s WhoMany people claim Christianity as their religion. Ask ten different people and to each that will mean ten different things. Decide in yourself your basic Christian beliefs. What tenets of your faith will you not budge on? Some examples would be the virgin birth of Jesus or the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Perhaps as a couple you could overcome some of these denominational differences however it’s no guarantee. Talk with your pastor or a parent about what your beliefs are. You have to know who you are to stay true to yourself. And your faith. Keep your heart guarded and give yourself time before you choose to fall in love.Know What You BelieveThere’s a lot of pressure to be sexually active in today’s world. Sometimes the world’s standards and your Christian beliefs may not run parallel. You need to know your limits. It’s not a good idea to wonder how far you should go if you are already sitting on the couch with the lights out. Before your first date set mental boundaries regarding what you will and won’t do. If it helps write it down on paper. Write down the reason for your decision. This will help you later if you begin to question your own judgment or shift a little bit on your dating guidelines.

Review of the Final Issue of Weekly World News Tabloid

Say Goodbye to Batboy and Dr. HorseThe Weekly World News tabloid. You know the one. You try to shade your eyes from looking at it at the grocery store check-out. The infamous black and white tabloid is no more. How sad to see Bat Boy lying in a coffin. He has since been resurrected for a theatrical production at a
local community playhouse, but i digress.I will miss you, Weekly World News tabloid. I will forever be grateful to you for the wealth of priceless information you have provided to me throughout the years. Anyway, who could forget Bat Boy, the half bat, half boy pointy eared creature that got himself in the most precarious situations. Crazy Bat Boy!As a registered nurse, I look to Dr. Horse, aka Lester the Typing Horse for the latest in medical research. I knew I could always count on him for the latest in cutting edge medical research information. Once a sideshow attraction, he is now the nation’s leading wellness expert, this according to the Weekly World News. I’ve learned from Dr. Horse that meat has lots of nutrients in it, and that juicing is a fine addition to a healthy diet. Cutting edge. Who could forget the Pulitzer prize caliber reporting of the Weekly World News article entitled “Fly-Eyed Baby!” I get choked up just thinking about it. Let us not forget the inspirational feel good story entitled “Holy Guacamole: Baby Delivered Inside Avocado!” Again, as an RN and former obstetrical nurse, this was really exciting. I will truly miss this Weekly World News publication. Thankfully, I purchased the final issue of Weekly World News. I will forever treasure this publication and refer to it often. “Me and my deputy were on patrol when two kids suddenly darted from the marsh and ran right in front of our car.” Sheriff Gil Claypool told Weekly World News. “Slim slammed on the brakes, just missing the two Thompson boys! they were scared out of their minds. “The boys said they’d been out collecting frogs when something approached from the saw grass.” What they saw was a half man, half alligator – what they called a “Manigator!” Call the AP! A Manigator is on the loose! Why was this not picked up by the wire?

Why an Apple Large Screen Touch Pad Will Become the Company’s Latest Commercial Success

How an Apple E-Book Reader Will Become a Multi-Media MasterRumors continue to circulate on the internet that Apple will introduce a device with a large touch sensitive screen, no keyboard, and which would be comparable to Amazon’s Kindle. Many people feel that the market for such a device doesn’t exist and won’t ever exist. Personally, I think
that it is long overdue and such a device, especially one made by Apple, could easily become the company’s biggest seller in the next decade. Below are my reasons:1. Yes, the iPod and iPhone can play movies and video, but there is a reason why people go to movie theaters to see the latest movies on the big screen. I downloaded and watched episodes of Alias from the iTunes store to watch on my computer and on my iPod. It was cool being able to watch a television show in the palm of my hands on my iPod, but that is all it was, just a novelty. There are plenty of people who watch movies on their laptops, and prefer this over watching video on an iPod. This is because the picture resolution and the viewing experience is so much better on a screen that you don’t have to squint at. If Apple can produce a touch pad with a decent screen size and resolution, then people may prefer watching movies on this instead of plopping their laptop on their stomach. When portable DVD players were introduced, they became a hit and popped up everywhere people wanted to watch a movie on the go, from airports to the doctor’s office. Problem is that you also needed to lug around half a dozen DVDs, not fun. A pad like device that has a good amount of memory, and which will presumably be connected via wireless networks to the iTunes store would turn a good idea into a great idea. Who wouldn’t love being able to download movies and play them on them on a much larger screen than the iPod’s screen.

The Taliban has posted notices that voting locations will be targeted for violence. The strife over recent elections in Lebanon and Iran, and the threats being made in the upcoming election in Afghanistan certainly show the world the importance of democracy and the power of the vote.Too many Americans fail to use their precious privilege to vote. In many recent presidential elections, only about 50% of eligible voters bothered to go to the polls and cast a vote. Good luck to the people of Afghanistan for a peaceful election. Perhaps Americans will learn to value their right to vote by seeing all the election furor in the more turbulent countries around the world.Air Travelers Now Must Provide Additional Information David A.
