Dating Advice for College Men

Don’t Let Careless Actions Cause STDs and Unwanted Emotional TiesCollege students more than ever are facing numerous pressures including relationship pressures. Students are practicing more casual sex than ever with multiple partners, which can include one night stands, or friends with benefits. The problems with these behaviors as fun as they may
are that the risk of STD’s is on the rise and the emotional attachment that is ever prevalent. As a college student who may have practiced some of these risky behaviors I have found it alarming that not knowing someone’s past could be a death sentence. Most college age men around the age of 20 do not think of the risks of the more serious STDs such as HIV or Herpes, I know I surely did not. Having casual sex is a very risky behavior that could lead to many bad consequences for one night of release, such as unwanted pregnancy or incurable STDs. One night stands are easy because they require little to no effort to pull off and have no “emotional” ties. The unfortunate truth is that one night stands impose high unwanted risk, and in fact in some cases can include emotional attachment. Not all college men are involved with random hook ups; many of them in fact want lasting monogamous relationships. After experiencing both sides of the dating circle I can easily say that monogamous relationships actually are more rewarding than a hook up. Relationships take a lot of work; they are not easy and are often viewed as a challenge; however the rewards are great. Relationships can help reduce stress and depression in students since they will have someone to talk to that they trust. There is little stress about risks since both people involved know each other well and can make mature decisions. The benefits sure outweigh the cons for a relationship instead of one night stands.

LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor

Sharp Picture, Good PriceI needed to upgrade the monitor on my computer. I knew I wanted something much bigger than the 15″ CRT monstrosity I had been using for years, but when I upgraded my computer, I couldn’t afford a new monitor.I found the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor at Best Buy for $229.99. It came with the power cable, and the 15 pin D-sub cable, but I had a DVI cable that I planned to use to connect the monitor to my
computer. The LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor is thin enough to mount on the wall, but is also small enough to not take up much space on my desk. It definitely takes up a lot less space than the old monitor.I was amazed at the sharpness of the picture, when I got it home, and connected the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor to the computer. It has 1920 x 1080 maximum resolution, which gives me a lot more real estate on the screen than I have had access to before. It also has 50000:1 digital fine contrast ratio. This gives the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor a high number of shades between black and whiteSomething I was not aware of until I went looking for a new monitor that the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor is a 1080p High Definition monitor. This means I can watch HD movies on my monitor. If I watch video clips in full screen, I can select Cinema Mode on the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor which gets rid of those blocky sections that you see in other monitors. The LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor also has an auto brightness sensor, which measures the surrounding light, and then signals the backlight, and creates optimal brightness to help reduce eye strain. The LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor also has Live Sensor. This is a proximity sensor that senses hands coming near the monitor, and turns it on. This is an energy saving feature that can extend the life of the monitor. The LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor is naturally Energy Star Compliant. You can set a Time Control on the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor to signal you to take a break at intervals you set up. The power light will blink to let you know to move. This is another way to avoid eye strain. The connections available on the LG 23″ Widescreen LCD Monitor are 15Pin D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI.

World News of the Day: June 30, 2009

Newsweek Reporter Maziar Bahair “Confesses” to Spying Nico Pitney at the Huffington Post reports that Maziar Bahair, Newsweek reporter in Iran, has “confessed” to spying. This is alarming news as the only way any reporter would admit to being a “spy” is if they are being tortured. Prayers to Maziar Bahair and to all journalists and
protestors in Iran as they lose their freedoms and risk death to bring the truth to the world. It is also important to wonder if the news release of this “confession” is just as bogus as the Iran election results. A Child Survives Jet CrashA five-year old child has been found in the Indian Ocean after the Airbus 310 crash of a flight from Paris to Comoros according to the NY Times and Huffington Post. The child is believed to be the only survivor of the 153 passengers on board. God bless this child and give he or she the strength to cope with the loss of family on the flight. Thus far the bodies of three victims have also been retrieved from the ocean.Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Declared Victor after Vote RecountIran Declares Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had an “overwhelming victory” during the vote recount according to CNN. It was announced that “there was no tangible irregularity.” Reports of votes in excess of the population in certain areas continue to appear and protestors continue to ask why their votes were not counted. No surprise that Iran continues to lie. The fact that they also continue to ban foreign reporters from the country shows they are not presenting the truth to the world. Prayers to the protestors as they continue their quest for the truth and for a better Iran for the next generation.Market Blast in Iraq Kills 24: American Troops Leave CitiesA car bomb blast at an outdoor market in Kirkuk killed 24 people according to MSNBC.Also, American troops have now departed the cities of Iraq. Dating Advice: Turn that Finger Around and Point it Back at Yourself

Why is it so Hard to Take our Own Dating Advice? The other day, I was offering dating advice to my friend about the guy she is dating. She comes from a prosperous family and she is very well-off. She is in school seeking a Bachelor’s degree and well, her family has high standards…. yet this guy has led her to fall off track and lose
sight of any self-respect she has.Lacey* is a 20 year old, full-time student at a local University. She has always been the kind of girl that would text me every day telling me about a new crush she had, then later she would gush to me about how things went wrong. Hours later, she’d have found a new interest. Well, now she has been dating Jack* for almost a month or so. They met through me because Jack* is a co-worker of mine and well…let’s just say I never thought anything would come of their meeting. So this guy…. he’s a 29-year-old divorcee who has no financial responsibilities, lives with his family, and basically lives to smoke cigarettes and smoke pot : no real ambitions. And I happen to know for a fact, that he is just along for the ride. He doesn’t really care about her, he is just dating her for shits and giggles (aka. because she has money and is crazy about him)… but if something else comes along, he won’t think twice before sending her on her way…And it’s so easy to find the flaws in her relationship…in her choice of guy…. yet, it’s always so hard for me to have the same open eyes in my life. Most women are like that. Why is it so easy for us to point out the flaws in our friend’s lives… but we can’t seem the wrong in our own?

It’s all in the mind

When you bring everything down to simple plumbing, the whole question of erectile dysfunction gets easier to understand. It’s all to do with pumps and valves. When the arteries dilate, the blood flows into the penis. As it swells, the pressure shuts off the veins that would drain the blood out and, before you can [...]

What are the treatments for pain?

Posted in Other - Health

Pain is nothing more than a warning system that something is wrong with your body. Should the Reporting of Michael Jackson’s Death Take the Place of World News?

There is no doubt that Michael Jackson is an American Icon. He changed the course of music. His album “Thriller” will always be deemed as an album of genius and historical sales. He was instrumental in MTV showing African American artists. He was an incredible talent. His untimely
death was shocking. But was the death of Michael Jackson significant enough to override other events in the news? In watching the evening news, other news took a backburner to the death of Michael Jackson. The North Korean threat, the war in Afghanistan, Obama’s health care plan…all took a backburner to his death. Not only did they take a backburner, his death took over the majority of the news. Aside from that, there was an evening special with an hour on Michael Jackson as well as an hour on Farrah Fawcett. In my opinion, the world news needs to be the world news. Yes, the death of an entertainer such as Michael Jackson merits a headline, but to have 75% of a 30 minute news show all about him is ridiculous. When people tune in to watch the news, they are interested in hearing about global events…things that can affect them in their day to day lives. While the unexpected death of Michael Jackson is sad, it is not as important as the news that will affect the lives of the American people. The death of Michael Jackson warrants much attention, no doubt. But that attention would be better spent in entertainment TV specials or on prime time shows which cater to events such as these. I have to wonder what could have happened in the world which might have put the death of Michael Jackson on the backburner. I also have to wonder if the evening news shows are more interested in ratings or in reporting the real news.Michael Jackson will be greatly missed. I loved the music of Michael Jackson as well as his outstanding dance abilities. My opinion of him dimmed somewhat in light of the sexual abuse scandals as well as many of the strange behaviors he exhibited from time to time. Still, his childhood was not easy and could not really be called a childhood…so surely he was affected.
