How to Fix Two Common LCD Monitor Problems

LCD monitors are the wave of the future, but even the best of them eventually have issues that can severely disrupt the usability of the device. They’re a lot less hardy than traditional, boxy, CRT monitors, but fortunately their excellent quality makes them worth fixing up and some of
the issues that they commonly experience can be repaired at home by even the computer illiterate among us.Here are two very common LCD monitor problems that you might run into, and how to fix them.1. Stuck pixels. By far the most common problem with LCD monitors is stuck pixels, little, black dots on the screen that won’t go away and don’t change when a different picture is shown. They’re extremely distracting, and all LCDs get them. Often, the problem is that a tiny liquid in each of the pixels hasn’t fully spread out to every place in the monitor, leaving some pixels “dead.”To fix the problem, put a towel or sheet over the LCD screen and use a blunt, small point, for instance a pen, PDA stylus or marker, to massage the area where the dead pixel is located. The towel will protect the screen as long as you don’t push too hard. You can also carefully do this without the cover on the monitor. Display a black image in your LCD screen to make the dead pixel easy to locate and gently rub it. If this doesn’t work, there are several programs available that can sometimes un-stick the pixel. Google search for “dead pixel software.”
